Q: Why is the church against birth control?  Why isn’t it my decision how many children I have?  Does the church just not like sex?  And don’t they realize that condoms can save people from AIDS?

Did you know there are about 2.2 billion children in the world, and about one billion of them are living in poverty? That’s not just an obscure statistic, that’s one out of every two children worldwide.

The function of journalism has long been misunderstood on the smaller levels, as local newspapers sometimes serve to cover community events and projects. There is rarely dramatic news in smaller communities, so the local newspaper keeps up a valiant effort to keep its community informed on local issues, no matter how small. It aims to tell the truth, and is above all loyal to its community.

So, we’ve all been hearing about the dwindling economy, the job and money scare, et cetera. And why not worry about it? It is the world we are about to be born into after college, kicking and screaming, arms flailing in attempt to grasp at threads of security.

On the day of this year’s elections, Nov. 4, Starbucks gave away free cups of coffee to anyone who had voted. A commercial for the promotion asked some intriguing questions:

After all of the noise of the election quiets into apathy again, I find myself still disturbed with excessive noise on campus, what with all the televisions drawing my eyes and ears.

This election is not only historical, it is divisive. In the light of campaigns, students are driven against each other, arguing the issues and thinking the worse of each other in passing.

Election Day is indeed upon us. For some, election season can seem like a whirlwind of confusion and misinformation. We get distorted news from media outlets pandering to ideologies. Our inboxes are flooded with absurd and sometimes outlandish chain letters and e-mails from friends and family members who want to “inform” us on the true natures of the candidates and issues.
