Dancers young and old have been preparing for the upcoming Dance Recital Saturday, May 2 in the O’Malley McAllister auditorium at 3 p.m. The Raven School of Dance, Benedictine College Dance Department, Benedictine College Dance Team, and several guest choreographers will perform at the event. All of the participants have been busy preparing to show off their skills. The Raven School of Dance, which consists of over 40 students in grades kindergarten through 12, has been working on their routines during class time. “Some classes started learning their routines as early as March. Everyone has been working really hard. Costumes are all in and teachers are just putting finishing touches on routines,” Sophomore Marisa Spain said. Another group of dancers practicing hard for their performance is Benedictine College’s Dance team. The dance team will perform their first place small group dance routine, as well as their third place hip-hop routine. All dance classes offered at Benedictine College are also showing pieces. Ballet, Tap, and Modern dance classes will each show off the skills they have learned throughout the semester. Anyone who loves dance, or just wants to support the dancers are invited and encouraged to attend. The recital is a great opportunity to see how hard all of these dancers work on their sport. “We would love to have lots of people come and enjoy the show with us and it should be a really fun time for everyone,” Spain said. |
